The human element: people in pictures

Something you have to remember when it comes to taking photoshoots for clients is these are pictures they are paying you for. Which means you should always ask them what they had in mind with the Photoshoot. Sometimes they won't always know what they are looking for, which is okay because as a Photographer that's when your creative mind comes in. The three things I like to follow are Visual, brainstorm, and the results.

I like to get the clients visual on what they'd like. what they want the photos for and a color scheme they were thinking. With this information I am able to come up with what present I'd like to use in Lightroom and gives me ideas on spots to have the Photoshoot at. If they don't know what they are looking for I ask what type of photoshoot they are looking for and give them ideas on what would look good. From there I can move into the Brainstorming part.

With the Brainstorming I think of ideas from what present to use to even what poses would look good with the photos. I also start looking around for places to take the photos at and whether I need to book a place for them or have backdrops available and ready. If the photoshoot is outside I even look at weather forecast to see what type of weather will be on that day and come up with a back up plan just in case. From then after the photoshoot I move into the results.

Something I like to do is get feed back from my clients on what they think I can improve on and what they liked/disliked. This can help me become a better Photographer and give me feedback just in case I need to rework they photos for them. Don't be discourage if you do get negative feedback this is what's going to help you. After all my points have been hit I always thank them and let them I am always available to work with them again.
